Batam Shipping Agency (PT. Bisa Jasa Segara) was appointed by the vessel owner as the Owner’s Protective Agent in Batam (OPA Batam) and Liaison Agent in Indonesia for the construction and delivery of Petro Sapphire, a Fast Crew Boat built at a shipyard in Batam.

In this role, Batam Shipping Agency was not involved in the technical execution of shipyard activities. Instead, we acted as the owner’s on-site representative, providing visibility, structured communication, and administrative support throughout the project. Our objective was to ensure that the vessel owner remained fully informed, well-supported, and confident at every stage of the construction and delivery process.

During the final stages of construction, Batam Shipping Agency served as the owner’s eyes and ears in Batam. We maintained close visibility over the vessel’s progress and provided regular updates on key milestones, preparation status, and readiness for delivery.

As a liaison agent in Indonesia, our role was to ensure that communication between the vessel owner and local stakeholders remained clear, timely, and aligned. Rather than intervening in technical matters, we focused on maintaining transparency and ensuring that information flowed efficiently in both directions.

One of the key moments during the construction phase was the transfer of the vessel from the fabrication area to the jetty using a mobile boat hoist. This is a critical stage in shipyard operations, requiring careful handling by the technical teams involved.

Batam Shipping Agency was present on-site to monitor this activity as part of our role as Owner’s Protective Agent in Batam. While the operation itself was fully carried out by the shipyard and its technical personnel, our responsibility was to observe the overall progress and provide real-time visibility to the vessel owner.

Through direct on-site presence, we ensured that the owner received timely updates and clear insight into the process. This approach allows the owner to stay informed without interfering in the technical responsibilities of the shipyard, maintaining a professional and well-defined boundary between oversight and execution.

Crew Logistics and Administrative Support in Indonesia

Beyond on-site monitoring, Batam Shipping Agency handled the administrative and logistical arrangements for superintendents and crew members arriving in Batam.

From visa processing and immigration handling to transportation, accommodation, and medical check-ups, each aspect was managed with careful attention to detail. The goal was to ensure a smooth and efficient process, allowing all personnel to focus on their responsibilities without unnecessary delays or complications.

Marine Supply Arrangement and Permit Handling

To support the vessel’s readiness for sea trial and delivery, Batam Shipping Agency coordinated the arrangement of required supplies, including bunker, lube oil, and hydraulic oil. All technical supply operations were carried out by the respective vendors, while our role focused on administrative handling, permit coordination, and ensuring that deliveries aligned with the project timeline.

This distinction is essential in maintaining clarity between operational execution and agency support, while still ensuring that everything runs as planned.

Sea Trial Permit and Regulatory Facilitation

As the vessel approached delivery, Batam Shipping Agency handled the sea trial permit process in Batam. This involved coordinating documentation, liaising with relevant authorities, and ensuring that all regulatory requirements were fulfilled in a timely manner.

With proper preparation and coordination, the sea trial was able to proceed without administrative delays, supporting the overall delivery schedule.
